| Tying Instructions |
- Start thread behind eye and wind back to just above the point.
- Tie in three microfibetts about 3-4 shank lenghts and wind down to
the bend (tails should point down slightly. Make 1 wrap UNDER the tails
to pull them up and splay them. Wrap over butt ends to point of thread
tie in and clip butt ends.
- Prepare 1 CDC feather as follows.
- Holding feather by the tip, stroke barbules down towards butt.
- Clip stem, removing the short barbules.
- Gather the ends of the feather by pulling it between your thumb and
index finger and bind down on top of hook with (tips facing the bend and
butt over the eye) with 2 light turns. These wraps are over the part of
the feather that still has the stem.
- Turn feather perpendicular to shank and figure eight lightly.
- SLOWLY pull feather till you have set the far side wing approx. 1 1/2
shank length. You will feel the butt pull free of the wraps. Bind donw
with another figure eight but tighter this time.
- Dub a VERY SMALL amount of black beaver dubbing (guard hares removed)
and pack it down tight on the thread. Figure eight around the wings to
form the thorax.
- Finish fly by making 1 half hitch and a 3-4 turn whip finish.
- Trim far wing to 1 shank length. Do the same for the near wing (it
should not have any stem in it when trimmed).
- Trim the tails to 2 to 2 1/2 shank lengths.

| Fishing Tips |
| I fish this fly on "longish" leaders (12+ feet). It sometimes helps to apply a very small amount of indicator putty to the leader about 12-18 inches from the fly if there are alot of naturals in the water or if your vision isn't the greatest, like mine ;^). Set the hook to any rise
within that radius of the indicator. |
