    I know...this isn't the traditional 'Nemes' style soft-hackle we are all so used to...but I don't usually follow all the rules. I like to tye scruffy looking flies because they seem to work better. I also like the addition of a small bead so that I can fish faster water without the fly bobbing in the surface. On with the recipe...

    Slide bead onto the hook and attach thread. Make enough wraps behind bead to keep it from moving. Wind thread toward rear and attach a strand of Krystal flsah. Dub the body tapering to about the 3/4 position. Wrap on the ribbing with about 5 wraps and tie off and trim. Attach the hen hackle by it's tip and wrap 2 to 3 turns. Tie off the hackle and trim the excess. Brush the hackle fibers backwards and make additional wraps of the thread so that the fibers lay rearward. Apply the brown dubbing and wrap on the head up to the bead. Whip finish and start castin'...
