Olive Caddis Pupa
Tied by Byard Miller
  • Under Wing: Barred wood duck
  • Thread: Brown 8/0
  • Rib: Dark brown 3/0 thread
  • Wings: Mallard wing
  • Hook: Mustad 3906 #16
  • Body: Olive hare's ear / Antron blend
  • Head: Peacock herl
  • Tying Instructions
Attach your tying thread and wrap slightly into the hook bend. Tie in a piece of brown thread and then dub onto your tying thread. Wrap the dubbed body to the wing position. Wrap on the brown thread as a ribbing with about 5 wraps and tie off and trim. Tie in a small bunch of wood duck fibers and trim excess. Carefully place two small slips of duck wing along the sides and tie on. After trimming the excess, attach a single strand of peacock herl and form the head with about five wraps. Whip finish.
    Fishing Tips

Thanks to Pete for a unique swap theme. I decided to stick with a pair of similar caddis patterns and even though I seldom fish the dry fly with a dropper, this certainly makes for a combination that I am sure to try next spring.

    Happy fishin'...enjoy...byard
