CDC Cinnamon Ant Tied by Gary Ingram |
|
Hook: Dry fly #16 - #22
Thread: Maroon or red 6/0
Body: Superfine cinnamon brown dubbing
Wing: White CDC barbules or tips
|
|
| Tying Instructions |
- Wrap hook shank with maroon thread.
- Dub rear section
- Wrap center with more thread to create body.
- Dub front section.
- Tie small bunch of CDC at head - should never extend over rear section.
- Tie off with thread head.
I have had the best luck with this pattern in still or slow water. It floats medium poor - use floatant on the body, not the CDC. It is hard to see at a distance. It has two redeeming qualities - It is easy to tie, and trout seem to love it!
Good fishing! |
