Pine Creek Caddis
Tied by Dave Murphy
  • Hook: #18 dry 2xlong
  • Wing: Bleached elk hock
  • Hackle: Light gray or dun (Hoffman saddles)
  • Dubbing: Lightest shade of olive tan sparkle caddis (custom blend, source revealed if you email me)
  • Thread: Tan, I think!
  • Tying Instructions
Here's the scoop: Open bottle of favorite libation and take a good hard swallow. Do not try this with Bloody Marys! See Drew first. Tie in hackle near bend in hook. Dub a ball behind hackle and proceed to dub 2/3 to eye. wrap hackle forward and tie off. Finish drink and pour another just to remind you what you get when you're done tonight. Tie in elk hock hair and clip flush with eye after whip finish or half hitches. That's the best I can remember since most flys were tied when I was... Sorry you all! Murf

Well all you who Byard enticed. When you get to the stuff from Maryland, I put in my biz card to admit a few things. First my home phone so you can call me at 3 am and cuss me out. Second, a fly I tied the first few months I tried. Make sure you find that extra fly in the plastic wrapper. It will guarantee you never to feel bad about anything you tie in the future, no matter how bad. Yes, I threw in something a little nicer too.
