| Tying Instructions |
- Wrap thread from just short of mid point on hook shank
to the bend, then wrap back to mid- point.
- Tie in tail at min-point wrapping forward with tight wraps
wrapping looser as you reach the bend of the hook.
- Wrap thread again back to starting point to tie in hump and wing
deer hair by the butts. (the hair should be almost twice as long as the hook shank).
- Wrap the thread tightly over the deer hair to the base of the tail, then dub in the body.
- Bring the deer hair over the back to form the hump and wrap all the way to the hook eye,
making sure to have a level surface for the hackle.
- Tie in the hackle and wrap forward to the base of the deer hair and reverse the hackle
back over the first wraps using a weaving motion so you don't trap any of the hackle
underneath the second hackle wraps. Tie off the hackle at the forward bse of the hump.
- Clip off the top of the hackle so its flat on top.
- Bring the deer hair wing over the top of the hackle and tie down just behind the hackle
(Don't wrap to tight at first or the wing will tilt upward to much).
- Whip finish.
If a rib is used, the rib should be wrapped over the deer hair hump and tied off before
tying in the hackle. |
