One of the most prolific mayflies on Monaro streams in most years is the Orange Spinner. It ranges in size from a large #10 down to a size 18.
I usually start with a new Orange Spinner (untrimmed) as they ride very high on the water when they first start egg laying. As the evening wears on, more spent spinners are on the water, so I trim the underside so the fly will ride flush in the surface film. |
