Cooper's Natural Fox Nymph

  • Thread: 6/0 brown or olive
  • Rib: Fine gold or copper wire
  • Abdomen: Florescent orange floss
  • Tail: Pheasant tail
  • Hook: Tiemco 700 #10
  • Thorax: Wapsi natural fox color dubbing
  • Tying Instructions
    • Attach the thread at eye and wind back to bend.
    • Attach pheasant tail fibers (about 10-12) to top of hook extending over bend slightly and bind down to top of hook stopping at about the 2/3 mark.
    • Return thread to tie in point of tail.
    • Take a 6 inch piece of wire and fold it in half. Tie it in, with the butts facing the eye of the hook, and bind down the length of the abdomen.
    • Tie in the floss at the bend and cover the abdomen with 3 passes of floss and tie off.
    • Insert dubbing twister into wire loop and twist it into 1 wire strand and rib the abdomen with 5-6 turns and tie off.
    • Apply squirrel dubbing to thread and dub a bushy thorax.
    • Fold butts of pheasant tail over thorax and whip finish.
