Olive Midge Emerger
Tied by Tony Spezio
  • Thread: 8/0 Uni-thread
  • Rib: Fine silver wire
  • Hook: L055 Scud Hook
  • Abdomen: Olive Antron yarn
  • Wing: Olive Antron yarn
  • Tying Instructions
Start thread just behind the eye. Split one strand of Antron Yarn into three strands. Tie one strand and the rib wire in behind the eye. Lay the yarn and wire over the top of the bare hook and wrap thread over it to a little beyond bend. Wrap thread back up the shank to about 1/16" behind the eye. Wrap yarn up the shank and tie off with the tag end on top of the shank. Do not cut the yarn off . Wrap the rib, about three wraps and tie off. Remove tag end of the rib. Take the tag end of the yarn and hold it up over the body and over wrap with thread. This tag end of the yarn will make the wing. Form a small head and tie off with a whip finish. Clip the tag end of the yarn leaving about 1/8" for the wing.
