Biot-Bodied March Brown Spinner
Tied by Richard Ross
  • Hook: #12 or #14 dry fly hook
  • Thread: Brown 6/0
  • Abdomen: Brown Turkey Biot
  • Tail: Dark brown or black microfibetts
  • Thorax: Rusty brown dubbing
  • Underbody: Thread base
  • Wing: White poly yarn
  • Tying Instructions
Lay down a base of thread. Dub a very small ball just before the bend of the hook. Wind the thread forward to the 3/4 point on the hook shank and tie in two microfibetts 1.5 to 2.5 times the length of the shank. Secure the fibetts with touching wraps back to the dubbing ball. The ball will cause the fibetts to flare. Build a thin thread body and tie in one biot concave side down at the rear of the hook. Wind the biot forward forming a segmented body. Tie off the biot at the 3/4 point on the hook shank. Secure sparse poly wings using figure eight wraps. Dub a small body over the tie in point of the biot and wings. Whip finish.
