| Tying Instructions |
| Wrap the hook with thread. To create the egg sack, fold a piece of black antron yarn in half, the loop will serve as the egg case. Tie in, with the loop hanging out over the hook bend. Tie in gold ribbing. Tie in red body tinsel. Wrap red tinsel forward, almost to the hook eye, completely covering the hook shank, no gaps. Tie off. Wrap the ribbing forward, being sure to space the wraps evenly, about 1/16 of an inch apart. Tie off. Comb out the burnt orange Antron yarn, I use a small piece of Velcro glued to the end of a popsicle stick. Tie in and trim to length, just past the egg sack. Cut, clean and stack a small clump of deer or elk hair. Trim to the same length as the underwing. To tie in, wrap the thread around the clump of hair once, and tie in. Cover the butt ends of the hair completely with thread wraps. Tie in the hackle. Dub the thorax to cover all the thread wraps. Wind hackle forward and tie off. Whip finish. |
