| Tying Instructions |
| Cut a strip of foam about 1/8' wide. This is best done with a sharp razor
and straight edge.
Start thread behind the eye and wrap to the bend, covering the whole hook
shank, then back forward about five wraps. Clip the end of the foam strip to a
blunt point and tie in on top of the shank. Wrap back to the
bend then back forward about 1/8'. Fold the strip over the top of the shank
and trap it there. This will give the hump at the rear of the ant. Wrap
thread forward over the foam compressing it to give you the skinny
section between the body and head. Fold a strand or two of Krystal flash on
the thread and place it in the center on the narrow part on the far side,
do the same on the near side. These will be the legs. Wrap thread on the
shank to just behind the eye and trap the foam there. Stretch the foam a
little so that the head will be a little smaller than the hump on the back.
After tying off stretch the foam and clip it, this will leave a little spot
that looks like the mouth section of an ants head. |
