Pheasant & Marten Tied by Rich Swartz |
|
Thread: Brown Uni 8/0
Body: Marten, including guard hairs
Hook: Standard wet fly, size 14
Hackle: Tan, ochre, and black feather from between the shoulders of a cock pheasant
|
|
| Tying Instructions |
- Tie in at head and wrap to tail
- Dub in the marten with the guard hairs sticking towards the hook and wrap, gradually thickening, to the hackle tie-in point. (That way each piece you dub on has the guard hairs overlaying the previous dubbing and will stick out on the dubbed body for that nice 'buggy' look.)
- Tie in pheasant and wrap two turns (w/ dark side facing forward)
- Tie off and whip finish
