| Tying Instructions |
| Essentially this is a color variation of a standard EHC.
It imitates the little black stonefly we see in late February
and into March on streams in NJ. |
| Fishing Tips |
| Dry fly fishing in February is a rare game. My own experience
shows that a fishable hatch only occurs 1 out of every 2-3 years.
When the stoneflies come back to lay eggs on a warm winter
afternoon, the rises to the naturals buzzing along the top of
the stream are often fierce. The fly should be cast past a
rising fish, from an upstream position quartering downstream.
Then the fly should be skittered over the fish. Do not use light
tippet, the savageness is amazing. |
