Tying Instructions
Thread base to bend of hook. Dubbing loop loosely use chopped deer hair. Not too thick. Tie in antennae. Shaped wing-feather on thin mailing tape and treated with vinyl. Cut wing to shape and tie in. Lay on brown hackle then orange. Two wraps only of orange, finish with brown grizzly. Half hitches under antennae. All materials get tied off at the same spot. Make each thread wrap count. Suggest preparing wings and dubbing ahead of time.
Fishing Tips
I fish this in Michigan where the rivers are loaded with canoes and inner tubes, so I start fishing when the sun goes down and Ceraclea Tranversus is starting to rise. They continue into the night. Common on most streams East to West. Size 14 is the adult but also tie it on 12 for night fishing. Slow retrieve with occasional twitch with rodtip is effective.Common from mid-May thru Oct.
