Olive & Peacock Caddis Larva
Tied by Justin Moeykens
  • Abdomen: #14 olive dubbing
  • Thread: Bright Green
  • Underbody: Lead Wire (optional)
  • Hook: Mustad All Round 10-16
  • Rib: Peacock Herl
  • Thorax: Peacock Herl
  • Tying Instructions
Tie in one strand of peacock herl by the butt end, about halfway down the hook bend, take your dubbing and dub the body until only a small portion of the hook remains uncovered. Wrap your peacock herl up to rib the body, and tie down. Do not clip off the extra. Then wrap your thorax with the same strain of peacock herl making it slightly fatter than the abdomen. Make asmall head with your tying thread, and wipe finish to complete the fly.
    Fishing Tips
I find the best way to fish this fly is using a high stick nymping techinque. Strikes can be suttle, of hard, just be prepared at any time. Also at the end of your drift let the fly swing below, I have gotten strikes that way also.
