    Fishing Tips
Don't let the simplicity of this fly fool you. This fly was developed to fish highly pressured brown trout on the Grand River in southwestern Ontario. The key to this fly is the body material. The V-Rib provides a translucency that is difficult to duplicate with other body materials and also makes a very nice segmented body. This fly has accounted for large trout across North America; especially in high pressure areas. Pattern Illustration
The best way I have found to fish the fly is to use very long leaders (10 to 12 feet) with a strike indicator at the very top. Use a very small shot (No. 4 or 6) and make long casts upstream and let the fly tumble back in the current towards you. This very natural presentation is part of the key to the pattern being successful. Another good way to fish this fly is as a dropper when fishing other caddis patterns, attractor drys or other nymphs. I tie this fly in sizes 10 through 20.
