Blood Midge
Tied by Russ Degidio
  • Hook: #10-12
  • Thread: #6 gold thread
  • Wing: Black feather tip
  • Collar: Black mylar
  • Abdomen: Red floss
  • Tying Instructions
    1. Tie floss to hook bend
    2. Tie in gold thread
    3. Wrap floss to hook eye
    4. Tie in mylar
    5. Wrap floss 1/4 way down the body
    6. Wrap collar, tie in wings
    7. Wrap gold rib to wings, tie off with floss

A black or gold bead can replace the mylar, this is great for small streams in Southern California.
    Fishing Tips
Fish in late August to mid October. I use this on Palor Mountian in Southern California. It is a great fly when the fish won't accept anything. Seems to be quite the provoking fly.
