Tying Instructions
1. Mount hook in vise, start thread at halfway point of hook. Cut some short, curly guard hairs from near the back of snowshoe hare foot. Tie in the tail with a length of approximately 1 or 1.5 hook gap.
2. Create body by wrapping thread to eye of hook. Leave about 2 hook eye lengths. Alternatively, you could dub a body for more bulk, or pick out the hair from the tail with a bodkin.
3. Select a clump of hair fibers from near the front of the foot. Tie this clump with tips facing back in the down wing style. The wing should be about the length of the hook shank.
4. Tie in a peacock herl at the head of the fly and wind around the hook shank 2 or three times. Tie off the herl, and whip finish the fly.

Fishing Tips
Fish this fly dry to imitate caddis or mayflies. Fish it wet as an emerger pattern, where the natural buoyancy of the snowshoe hair will cause it to rise just under the film. Use an art marker on the stream to match specific colors, or used dyed hare's feet. Bob Lundy, from the Izaac Walton Fly Fishing Club calls this fly the Usual 'Dress' when the collar of herl is added, much like the collar on the 'Casual Dress' pattern.
