CDC Cinnamon Ant
Tied by Gary Ingram
  • Hook: Dry fly #16 - #22
  • Thread: Maroon or red 6/0
  • Body: Superfine cinnamon brown dubbing
  • Wing: White CDC barbules or tips
  • Tying Instructions
    • Wrap hook shank with maroon thread.

    • Dub rear section

    • Wrap center with more thread to create body.

    • Dub front section.

    • Tie small bunch of CDC at head - should never extend over rear section.

    • Tie off with thread head.

I have had the best luck with this pattern in still or slow water. It floats medium poor - use floatant on the body, not the CDC. It is hard to see at a distance. It has two redeeming qualities - It is easy to tie, and trout seem to love it!

    Good fishing!
