Doppelgänger
Tied by Byard Miller
  • Rib: Fine copper wire
  • Body: Hare's ear & olive Antron dubbing blend
  • Hackle: Mottled brown hen
  • Hook: Mustad 3906
  • Thread: Olive 8/0 Uni-thread
  • Head: Peacock herl
  • Tying Instructions
Roget's Thesaurus lists Doppelgänger as a synonym for substitute, and that's just what I needed due to a late dropout in the swap. Of course it had to be fairly simple and quick to tie. Will it catch anything? You be the judge and don't forget to let me know your results.

Attach your ribbing wire half-way down the bend of the hook. Dub the body over 2/3 of the hook shank and then wind your ribbing over that and tie off and trim. Prepare a hen hackle by stripping off the fluff and one side of the fibers. Tie it in by the tip and wind on so that the fibers slant towards the rear of the hook. Tie in a peacock herl and wind on to form the head. Tie off, trim and whip finish. That's it! Finished these up over two evenings at the vise...hope they work...;^)

    Happy fishin'...enjoy...byard
