CDC Olive
Tied by Chris Knight
  • Wing: CDC fibers, tied upright comparadun style
  • Body: Olive dubbing w/ bits of CDC scrapchopped up and mixed in
  • Thread: Olive unithread
  • Tail: Sparse clump of CDC fibers
  • Hook: TMC 101
  • Fishing Tips
Can be fished dry or as emerger, though when used as an emerger I trim the wing and use a piece of nylon hose as a trailing shuck instead of using a cdc tail. Aside from the 22 OBA, this is my favorite late-season olive fly on central NY creeks. (The naturals often go smaller than #26, but that's as small as I can go w/o using 7x tippet, I draw the line at 6x).
