Legs: 6 strands pheasant tail over peacock, tips placed three per side to form swimming legs
Abdomen: Fire thread 3 strands green,2 strands yellow 1 strand red blue or purple. Wound to form tapered body
Eyes: Green beads strung on copper or silver wire
Thread: Invisible
Tail: Loops of fire thread cut to fan out
Hook: Mustad wet fly #10 2x long
Thorax: Single strand bronze peacock herl wound

| Fishing Tips |
Try fishing the pattern on a long 20ft mono leader 6 to 8 lb on a floating line by slow trolling from a float tube along weed edges . Combine leg kicks with rod twitches to achieve slow swim, spurt, spurt, slow swim, spurt, rest, etc.
Materials: Fire cloth is a woven irridescent cloth used for costumes for ice skating and mardigras. Individual threads can be redily stripped from the material. I got mine in the Seattle area however I dont know of any other sources. |
