Klinkhamer Special
Tied by Ron Griffith
  • Thread: 8/0 cream
  • Body: Cream/yellow dubbing
  • Hackle: Grizzly
  • Thorax: Peacock herl
  • Post: Poly yarn, white
  • Hook: Scud hook #8-20
  • Tying Instructions
    • Start thread behind eye and advance 1/8-3/16".
    • Tie in post material. I use a strand 1/2 the size I want my finished post to be, and loop it under the hook shank. Then tie in with figure 8 wraps.
    • Take thread on down shank to halfway down bend. Start dubbing body and work back up to back of post.
    • Take thread to front side of post and tie in hackle with butt of quill extending toward eye. Tie hackle up post to about 1/16"-3/32" high, dull side up.
    • Tie in peacock at eye of hook and wrap back to post. Tie off.
    • Now wrap hackle 3 or 4 turns around post, with each wrap under the preseding wrap. Tie off around post with a whip finish, trim as necessary, and go catch one.
