  • Tying Instructions
Thanks to Ross for a challenging swap theme. It's been awhile since I've tied anything this small. If the fly you have received is not up to snuff, blame my failing eyesight...they all looked fine to me...;^))))

After attaching thread and winding back to the middle of the bend, sparsley place the dubbing onto the thread. Wrap a tapered body to the wing position. Snip the tip out of a CDC feather. Then carefully snip the quill about 1/4" from the tip to make a small 'V' piece. Using this technique you should be able to tie 3-4 flies with one feather. Stroke the fibers into a bunch and tie them on in front of the dubbed body. Just tie in the fibers...not the quill. Trim off the excess and tie in a single pheasant tail fiber. Wind that on as you would a hackle and tie off just behind the hook eye. Whip finish and trim the CDC wing at about the hook bend position. That's it folks!

Now, I can't attest to the productiveness of this pattern in this size...but larger sizes have produced well for me in New England. I'll have to wait for the reports on the success of this one.

    Happy fishin'...enjoy...byard
