| Tying Instructions |
| After securing the hook in the vise, wrap thread to the rear of the hook. Pull out a small bit of dubbing material and tie it down at the tail extending past the hook shank about 1/2 shank length. This will form the trailing shuck.
Tie in a piece of fine gold wire at the tail for a rib. Pull out a tuft of the dubbing material and roll it in your palm until you have a rope. Polly Rosborough called this dubbing string a noodle....You take the
tuft of dubbing in your palm and roll it out to a rope about 2 inches
long and about the thickness of a wooden match. Tie one end of the rope down at the back of the hook, hold it against the thread and spin it and the thread together in one direction until it's tight. Wrap this
forward to about one third back from the eye. This technique makes a
nice body with well defined segments. Bring the gold wire forward
between the wraps of dubbing and tie off. Tie in 6 to 10 turkey hackle fibers beard style. Match up two CDC feathers with the tips pointing away from each other. Tie them down on top of the hook so they extend just to the back of the body. Take two turkey hackle fibers and tie them on top of the hook, just forward of the wing extending back 1 1/2 to 2 hook lengths. Finish the fly by dubbing a ball shaped head with dark brown dubbing and whip finish.

| Fishing Tips |
| I fish this pattern during caddis emergences. It has proven to be a
very effective pattern on the Henry's Fork. I hope it works as well for
you in your home waters. |
