About three years ago the concept of swapping flies amongst fellow internet junkies intrigued me enough that I signed up for my first swap. I was so excited and impressed with the results that I just had to share those beautiful flies with as many fly tyers as I possibly could. I photographed all the patterns and wrote up some html coding and the Virtual Flybox was born. To say that the project was a success would be a gross understatement. This year over a quarter of a million fly tyers like yourself will stop by the VFB for a visit. In the next twelve months I expect to serve up over four million pattern recipes and help and inspire fly tyers from all over the world.

Unfortunately, the Virtual Flybox may become a victim of it's own success. Flies arrive here daily to be added to the ever expanding database, which will include over a thousand different and unique fly patterns if I can ever catch up on the backlog. Dozens of people e-mail me their questions and praises daily and I try my best to answer each and every one. The VFB has outgrown two servers and now resides on one of the fastest and most reliable servers in the country. The popularity and success has far exceeded even my wildest dreams. The hours involved in maintaining and expanding this site are astronomical, and in order to continue, the addition of a competent staff must be considered. Funds are gravely needed to not only compensate for my time and expenditures, but to add the talented personnel necessary to continue to bring you the new features and fly patterns that you have all grown to expect.
