Today I looked at the materials. I pulled back the barbules on the butt section of a pheasant feather. I gathered the tip fibers into a cluster and clasped them between index finger and thumb. I massaged the bundle
until they were perfectly compacted into the wing of a #18 spent caddis. I
held them close to my better-than-blind right eye. That was enough. |
