A few words from the Swapmeister...As I was very new to the VFB site and list, I was amazed at the swaps going on. And as I had been waiting for my flies to return from my only other swap I had ever joined, (another site, and two months overdue.) I decided to try one myself. Since I eat a few of the small panfish that I catch, it was only natural to put together the swap idea. One favorite panfish catching pattern, and one favorite fish recipe to cook them.I had wanted about twelve entrants, but after a lot of people found out it was my first swapmeistering, I was a little short. I did the patterns and recipes to make up for it, as a "thank you for hanging in there with me" gesture to my swappers. As I am not really a what you call a finesse tier, (I tie for the fish, not the buyer). I was surprised at the fine flies, because we were talking panfish here, not trout. (That can be very put off if your fly does not look just exactly right to them.) I think you will like the flies, and the recipes are really great too! I know because I have tried them all! (Have gained eight pounds, and my arm is sore from "haulin' them in"!!)Tie a few, fish a lot! John McBrideEditors Note: John did a wonderful job at hosting his very first fly swap. I'd like to commend him for not only a well run swap but also on an outstanding theme. The inclusion of recipes was a grand touch. Can't wait for John's next swap...my mouth's watering already...;^)keep tyin'...byard
